Difference between Eastern Coastal Plain & Western coastal Plain
1)Western coast is narrower as part of its crust is submerged and eastern coast is wider as it is emerging coast.
2) western is compatible for ships to Anchor due to narrow basin while Eastern is not, sand, silt from river mouth areas not conducive for ships.
3)Delta formation is unique to Eastern as its rivers travel long distance and carry huge sediments, while that of western forms estuaries as rivers here travel in short distance
4)Due to huge delta s fertile fields — supports paddy, coconut etc and Arabian side is not that fertile due to infertile land with coarse sediments other than doing some pockets.
Weather
5) Due to orographic rain fall much of the south West monsoon gives is rain here so western receive good rainfall compared to Eastern,
5) Eastern is prone to cyclone as typhoons from western pacific, Japan sea carried to Bay of Bengal with Eastern trade winds and land on Eastern coast, by the time they reach West coast they loss moisture and no such devastation, even though western coast do have some cyclonic disturbances from Indian ocean they are not often and intense like Eastern,
6) western is more Saline compared to Eastern,
7) more mangroves areas throughout Eastern cost Bengal, Odisha, AP and Tamilnadu all have mangroves
